Activity Report on Distribution of Around 22 Million Yen in Grants to 28 Children’s Therapeutic Institutions Nationwide

2025.12.22

Thank you for always diligently following and supporting the work of Walking Together Hand-in-Hand with Children Foundation.

Through this foundation’s activities, we aim to support children with deep emotional scars. In December 2025, we received grant applications from 31 children’s therapeutic institutions nationwide, and 28 of those institutions were selected to receive a total of around 22 million yen in grants (with a maximum of 1 million yen per institution).

What Are Children’s Therapeutic Institutions?

These are specialized facilities for children facing severe psychological challenges due to backgrounds of abuse or domestic violence. By integrating medical care, daily life support, and education, these facilities help children recover and regain their independence so they can face the world with confidence.

■ The Harsh Realities Facing Caregivers

Through this year’s grant applications, the grueling conditions and the urgent need for support at the front lines of caring for abused children have become strikingly clear.

Life-Saving Monitoring Systems (Security Cameras & Motion Sensors)

Some children in these facilities struggle with suicidal thoughts and self-harm. By installing cameras in blind spots such as hallways and introducing sensors to prevent nighttime incidents, facilities were able to improve their environments, thereby preventing life-threatening situations where every second counts.

Frequent Medical Visits (Vehicles for Transporting Children)

Approximately 80% of children in these institutions require regular psychiatric care, necessitating near-daily trips to clinics. We supported the replacement of aging vehicles with more stable models to ensure the safety of children with developmental challenges who may exhibit unpredictable movements during transport.

Emotional Stability through Living Conditions (AC Replacement)

We funded the replacement of air conditioning units that were either broken or unable to function in cold-weather regions. Maintaining an appropriate room temperature is essential for the emotional stability of children with trauma. These upgrades also reduce the physical burden on staff who previously had to perform manual maintenance on failing equipment.

■ A Message to Our Donors

This grant program was made possible entirely through the generosity of those who believe in our mission and contributed their heartfelt donations.

The support you have entrusted to us is more than just funding. It serves as a profound source of encouragement for the staff fighting solitary battles on the front lines and for the children living through unspeakable pain.

It is only because of your continued commitment that we were able to provide this support for a second consecutive year. We promise to continue using your contributions with the utmost care to protect the future of our children.

To everyone who supported this grant program: please accept our deepest and most sincere thanks.
